For the following five mandates, the application process opened on 2 March and closed on 13 April 2021 (12 noon Geneva time). APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED:

  1. Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights of persons with albinism
  2. Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy
  3. Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences
  4. Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent, member from Asia-Pacific States
  5. Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, member from Western European and other States

Only nationals of the States belonging to the regional groups, for which specific vacancies have been advertised, are eligible for the Working Group mandates. Please refer to the list of theUnited Nations regional groups of Member States.

Should the appointee to any of the mandates be a person with a disability, the United Nations would be obliged to ensure reasonable accommodation for the mandate holder in the implementation of his/her mandate. This may include provisions for the mandate holder to be accompanied during official travels by a personal assistant, and/or for additional conference services (such as sign language interpretation) in respect of meetings in which the mandate holder participates.
