CMW Anniversary Event, 30 September 2015, Church Center of the United Nations in New York

On the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the adoption of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (the CMW Convention), the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (the Committee) and the Global Campaign to End Child Immigration Detention, will hold an event with Member States, United Nations agencies and other bodies, as well as civil society organizations on the rights of migrant children and families in the context of international migration, with a focus on immigration detention during the 70th Session of the General Assembly in New York. This event will feature brief presentations by representatives of the Committee, OHCHR, UNICEF, the International Detention Coalition and others, the screening of two short films which will explore the vulnerability of migrant workers and their families, and available child-sensitive alternatives to detention, respectively, as well as a reception and art exhibit. The anniversary event which is scheduled to take place on 30 September 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Church Center of the United Nations, 777 UN Plaza at First Avenue, at East 44th Street, New York (Second Floor).
